Regenerating Fashion

CQ Studio is a fashion research studio that focuses on using regenerative materials and systems of production. We make our textiles from a range of biological sources including flax, food waste and algae, whilst utilising a range of technologies to create unique textures and properties. We believe in a holistic approach to manufacturing textiles using biology.

  • Trade

We conduct research and development of innovative fibres and materials for fashion. We focus on regenerating and utilising local, biodegradable plant fibres.

  • Teach

We believe that new innovations are only impactful if we also educate society about why they are necessary, this is why we believe workshop facilitation is crucial. We host educational workshops from KS3 to masters level.

  • Talk

We understand behaviour change can be difficult and is why we feel strongly about offering consultation to sharing our knowledge and experience, helping designers and brands to become climate conscious.

Founder

Cassie Quinn is the founder of CQ Studio. After completing her bachelor’s degree in Fashion textiles, she felt frustrated by the greenwashing and contradictions in fashion she wanted to expand her knowledge on how to create textiles utilising the power of biology. She began research into innovative fibres from Algae and began a journey into biodesign. She was accepted as Designer in Residence at Brooke Roberts Innovation Agency to continue research. From here she discovered and was enrolled on the novel master’s course at Central Saint Martins aptly name Biodesign. During her second year, she founded and launched CQ Studio, believing her research only held force to create change if they were integrated into the fashion industry.
